Designed as a singular volume with five segments, the schedule of accommodation is composed of 4 duplex units and a flat. The flat, being the smallest unit – a two bedroom apartment – occupies a quarter of the floor area of the pent floor in compliance to planning regulations.
The duplexes occupy the ground and first floor with all the apartments sharing common walls at the side and rear. Because each duplex can only be fenestrated on two sides; two lightwells, measuring 2.8×3.2meters and rising from the ground through to the pent floor, are introduced between the duplexes to bring light and air flow into the building’s core. The lightwells, featuring garden, trees, pebbles extends the interior spaces beyond the internal glazed walls. The kitchens, stair halls, private lounges and lobbies open directly into the lightwells.
Targeted at mid-income earners, the finishes and aesthetics of the development is simple and rugged to keep maintenance and running cost to a minimum. The exterior is finished mainly in striking burnt-brick colour with bright white used to highlight the recesses and the ceilings.
